On March 5th, Patrolman Joe DiParisi stopped a tractor-trailer on Union for being over weight. The driver, John Mchugh, age 53 of Lindenhurst NY had an outstanding motor vehicle warrant for $779.00 out of Knowlton NJ. He was transported to police headquarters for processing where he posted bail and was released. Mr. Mchugh is due to appear in Knowlton Municipal court.
On March 7th, at 2:00 A.M. police responded to the Apartment complex located at 851 Springfield Avenue for a reported break and entry to one of the apartments. Police learned that a second story apartment had been entered, by an unknown actor, through a second floor unlocked window. A fire escape ladder was located in the area, which was believed to have been used to gain access to the window. Stolen items include a 32 television, two lap top computers, a digital camera and a suitcase. If anyone has information related to this burglary they are asked to contact the Community Service Bureau at 908-665-1111. On March 9th, Ptlm. Andrew Diamond issued Michael Dombroski , age 24 of Clark NJ a summons for soliciting without a permit. Mr. Dombroski was going door to door in an effort to sell services which is a violation of New Providence Boro Ordinances.
On March 13th, 2009 at 9:30 p.m. police responded to the Village Shopping Center for a reported group of young adults that were throwing rocks at vehicles and acting disorderly. Patrolman Drown located a young adult, Daniel Borman age 18 of New Providence, bleeding from the hands. Officer Drown began to question Mr. Borman when he became belligerent and uncooperative. Officer Drown advised Mr. Borman that he was being placed under arrest. Mr Borman attempted to run but was subdued and handcuffed. He was transported to police headquarters for processing. He was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest and is to appear in Elizabeth for court. Additional charges are expected after the Community Service Bureau concludes its investigation
